River Findhorn
The Wooden House

The Wooden House
Glenferness Estate
on the River Findhorn

The Wooden House was built of logs in the 1890's to a Norwegian design and completely panelled inside with pine which still looks as fresh as the day it was put in.

It is a warm, inviting place to stay, very comfortable with central heating, new electrics and kitchen. All the old details are original, including many old poker-work drawings on the walls of highland games, birds and animals.

The outlook from the house is over the lawns and towards a large walled garden. The house and policies are almost surrounded by the river in a spectacular gorge. There are miles of river walks, the opportunity for salmon fishing, a secluded hill loch with a wooden rowing boat for trout fishing, and even a squash court. Roe stalking and rough shooting can also be arranged in season.
