Finglen and Finburn

Fin Burn runs through the garden in front of the house. (Look out for herons, dippers, grey wagtail, mallard, and deer.)

Sabrina and Douglas Campbell welcome guests to stay for bed and breakfast at their charming Victorian family home surrounded by 10 acres of woodland gardens below the Campsie Fells.

Echo at the front door

Fin Burn tumbles down the glen in front of the house, and this beautiful and natural garden has meadows full of wild flowers, specimen trees and shrubs and hidden surprises at every turn. Behind the house you can climb a thousand feet to the top of the Campsie Fells for wide open views of Loch Lomond and central Scotland.

Guests love staying here. It's a quiet and relaxed, comfortable and informal base with easy access to Glasgow, the Burrell Collection, Hunterian, as well as Stirling Castle, Culross and even Edinburgh.

Sabrina and Douglas are documentary film-makers, (Handheld Productions Ltd.) and are widely travelled in Scotland, and happy to give advice and help you plan your intineraries.

Map of the area:

Directly from Finglen you can walk for 8 hours without encountering a road. Recommended is the walk to Earl's Seat in the Campsie Fells (2 hours there, 2 hours back) where on a clear day you may see great distances: Loch Lomond (northwards) and Arthur's Seat (in Edinburgh) and the outline of Ailsa Craig (island in the Irish Sea).
