This is a wonderful chance to stay in the Highlands of Scotland surrounded by woodland, gardens and lawns which go down to the River Dee, one of Scotland's most famous salmon rivers. Julian and Miranda McHardy offer bed and breakfast (and optional dinner) at Woodend House and warmly welcome their guests as they would their friends.

An inspirational place to stay, and a favourite with artists and writers; miles of woodland paths, wild flowering plants, the scent from the Scots pine trees, and the sound of the river, and secluded places to sit. The river Dee rises in the pristine Cairngorm mountains and is crystal clear. As you wander along the water endlessly changes from bright stoney runs to slower deep open pools, then quick rocky rapids, sparkling in the sun.

The oldest part of the house is from 1700s when it was built as a fishing lodge, the south side with its charming bow front dates from the early 1800s and the rest has evolved to this day.

Staying here is ideal for exploring the castles of Aberdeenshire, visiting whisky distilleries, or exploring the miles of glorious highland moors, rivers and forests of the Cairngorm National Park. Many towns and even villages have a golf course each with its own character, and this is a perfect golf holiday base.

At Woodend House you will find all the modern and traditional comforts of a harmoniously arranged family home along with seasonal fresh produce from the kitchen garden and Miranda's delicious home cooking.
