The house-keepers are Chris and Jules. They live locally and you can contact them if you need anything. Hilary has provided a folder of useful local information, including, for example, the telephone numbers for the fishers and divers for scallops and langoustines, or about the sandy beach of Camas a'Charaig at Mellon Udrigle. Please tell Hilary you found Shore Croft through About Scotland! (Top left photograph courtesy of Hilary Cowan) |

Mellon Charles is the most westerly of the scattered communities of crofts and cottages along the northern shore of Loch Ewe. Shore Croft and the house next door share the pebbly beach, and are on the furthest edge of the settlement. Aultbea, about 3 miles away, has a post office, general store, a very good butcher, two churches and two hotels. Wester Ross:
Gairloch - 20 minutes by car - pony trekking, sailing, sea-angling, places to eat out and a heritige museum. |
