In one of the most idyllic settings you can imagine, Marjory Ann Anderson welcomes guests to stay for bed and breakfast at her home, a stone built house dating from the 17th century totally secluded at the top of a glen a couple of miles from Dunkeld.

The air is fresh with the scent of woodland and it is quiet and peaceful here. Ospreys fly overhead, a polecat sometimes visits, you will often see fallow deer feeding in the meadows around about, and Majorie-Ann has peacocks and fantail doves which live in the garden.

It is quite rare to find such accommodation: this is an incredibly central base for touring Scotland with easy access to roads North, South, East and West, and yet is quietly nestled in a secluded valley surrounded by the beauties of nature.

You are very welcome to sit in the large lounge which has a television, books and games, and a log fire in cold weather.

Walking

This is wonderful walking country. There's a 10 minute walk down to the Loch of the Lowes, and walks up through the forestry where you can see Canada geese (Oct-Mar) on lochs. There's a 20 minute walk through the Atholl Wood.

Cereals, porridge home-made muesli, prunes, grapefruit segments.

Tea, coffee, orange juice.

Eating nearby

There are some good places to eat in Dunkeld: Fish and chips, The Indian, The Atholl Hotel, and The Taybank Hotel which has live Scottish music in the evenings.

And if you feel like walking to and from a pub in Dunkeld, it takes about half an hour each way.
