A peaceful hideaway for two
This old Smithy, a long and fairly narrow building on the outer edge of a walled courtyard next to Tullibole Castle has been restored and renovated to make a very cosy and stylish self-catering holiday retreat for two. 
It has underfloor heating, a conservatory with views over fields to the Cleish Hills (top photograph), a lawn and patio area, and peacocks who live in the surrounding bushes.
Owners Rhoderick and Alison Moncreiff who live at the castle are on hand to help if you need anything, and you are welcome to walk in the grounds and woods, explore the remains of the medieval church, the ruined Doocot and moat and, by arrangement, have a tour around the 17th C. castle.
There are plenty of interesting walks and adventures to be had nearby: fishing, a boat trip to Loch Leven Castle (where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned), Falkland Palace and Culross. This is a central hub from which to explore Central Scotland, Edinburgh, Stirling, Perth and St Andrews.
The Longhouse is a successful combination of the old and new, a romantic rural retreat with historic character and also comfortable and contemporary - in fact an ideal holiday cottage for two.
Accommodation:

Sitting area with wood-burning stove ,sofa, wall-mounted television with freeview channels, and conservatory beyond. The conservatory has wonderful views (top photo)
Right;
The kitchen area is back-to-back with the sitting area. Electric hob, electric oven, fridge, washing machine/tumble dryer, etc.
Below left and right;
The double bedroom is separated from the kitchen by the wall with the circular mirror. Next to the bedroom the shower room has a power shower, basin and wc.
- Underfloor heating throughout.

- Choice of synthetic or down pillows and duvets.
- Patio and patio furniture with BBQ.
Tariff:
from £250 to £500 per week. Please note, turn around days are Friday or Monday.
Bed linen, Electricity and Gas are included in the price.
Short breaks are normally available but in the summer they are bookable only 4 weeks before arrival. Feel free to inquire.
30% deposit is required by return to confirm booking. Balance due 6 weeks before arrival or if booked under 6 weeks on booking.
Payment by Cash (Pounds, Euros, Dollars) or
Cheques or Travellers Cheques. Credit/debit
cards not accepted.
On your arrival a pack of fuel is included (for the
Stove in the Sitting room).
No smoking in The Longhouse please.
