Surrounded by woodland and lawns outside the pretty village of Pencaitland, Tyneholm House is reached by a long drive beginning with stone gates near where an early 16th C. bridge crosses the river Tyne, 15 mile east of Edinburgh.
The house is made of warm red sandstone, designed in the early part of the 1800's by the famous pioneer of Scottish Baronial architecture, William Burn.
Today Tyneholm is Henrietta and Edward Gimlette's family home, restored and renovated, decorated and furnished with aplomb, welcoming and relaxed, with two magnificent bedrooms set aside for bed and breakfast guests.
Guests also have the use of their own sitting room which has a log fire and bay windows under which breakfast is served.
Henrietta and Edward Gimlette have a young family and welcome children. They have an extra bedroom for children who would share a bathroom with their parents.
With easy access to Edinburgh, and to all the world-famous golf courses of east Lothian Tyneholm is also well situated for exploring the wild Lammermuirs and the gentle hills and wooded valleys of the Scottish borders, its abbeys, castles and historic houses.
