Kilrie Granary and the Granary Hall
Kilrie, near Kirkcaldy,
Fife, Scotland

In the middle of the picture above you can see the long 19th century stable building which John and Suzanne Drysdale converted into their home, Drumullion House, and behind that the Granary - called Kilrie Granary - which they have made into a self-contained holiday home (right). There is a separate entrance drive and parking place for Kilrie Granary guests and also complete privacy.
The Granary has a large Sitting room/Dining room/Kitchen and there are two spacious bedrooms. If your party needs an extra room or you want to invite a guest to visit and stay the night on your Scottish holiday, ask Suzanne, as there is often an extra bedroom available in the main house. On the other side of the steps (in the photograph right) is the Granary Hall, a venue available for sit-down lunches, dinners, meetings (22 guests), or receptions, dances and drinks parties (50 guests).
This is a quiet and peaceful place to stay surrounded by farmland which has been in the Drysdale family for generations. There's a conservation heathland forest, a waterfall which used to power the old watermill and a doocot (on the right of the loch in the picture above).
Kirkcaldy Station to Edinburgh Waverley
Because of the train service 3 miles away you can easily get in and out of Edinburgh (35 minutes). That makes the Granary a serious option for accommodation for the Edinburgh Festival.
Golf, walking, cycling and beaches
St Andrews and its golf courses are a 40 minute drive and there are many other courses nearer. Sandy beaches and little fishing villages are all around the coast of Fife, the two nearest and best being Kinghorn and Aberdour just a couple of miles away, and the Fife Coastal Path is two miles away.
