Self-catering - with optional gourmet food.

Part of William Playfair's magnificent 1820's scheme for the north slope of Calton Hill at the East end of Princes Street and the top of Leith Walk, the smaller Greek classical houses of Windsor Street terminate on the corner of Leopold Place with a grand Ionic curved block.

It is here, (the four windows on the first floor -U.S. second floor- in the middle of the photograph) that owners Jessica and Scott Haggerty welcome guests to their four bedroom, four bathroom Georgian mansion holiday flat that sleeps up to 8. Light floods in from generous windows into high-ceilinged rooms with intricate plaster mouldings, semi-circular interior walls and remarkable curved doors.

Jessica and Scott live just a couple of minutes walk away, and are always happy to settle guests in and advise on their itineraries. The atmosphere is civilised and informal: a warmly welcoming self-catering "home from home" with the added bonus that Jessica, who has her own catering business, can come and cook for you some of the most imaginative gourmet food you can find in Edinburgh.

The apartment has satellite TV in the lounge, and a television and DVD or video player in every bedroom.

The apartment has a secure communal stair with an entryphone and is on three levels.

The kitchen has an 8 ring gas hob, double oven, microwave, two fridge freezers and a dishwasher.

The photograph on the right shows the Dining/Drawing Room where there is satellite TV, sofa, gas fire and dining table.

If you like, Jessica will serve you a delicious organic and locally sourced breakfast at the table in front of the tall windows with a view onto Calton Hill and London Road.

Breakfasts can be ordered to your preference, or Jessica could surprise you with some of the following:

Fruit salads in ginger syrup with maple granola brittles.
The Ultimate Hot Date with Greek yoghurt and honey.

Podgy porridges with organic Scottish porridge oats, heather honey, a dram of whisky, and cream.
Breakfast Cranachan - raspberry, toasted oats and cream.
Baked blueberry French toast with caramalised pecans. ("One of the most delicious things I've ever had!" -Editor)

Potato pancakes with locally smoked wild Scottish Salmon and dill crème fraiche..
Smoked trout scramble with green onions on homemade corn paprika muffins.

Also: homemade preserves and breads, teas, coffees and freshly squeezed juices. Other diets - vegan, coeliac etc., happily catered for.
Alternatively: Jessica can provide a special breakfast hamper to be delivered in the morning, with homemade quiches, pastries, yoghurts, fruit, waffles with maple syrup and a newspaper - and even champagne if requested!
Dinner? If you would like dinner on any nights of your stay Jessica is only too happy to send you menus and prices, and will prepare delicious food to fit with most budgets.

Prices from £150 per night, with reductions for longer stays.

Discounts: for numbers less than 8 and periods less than a week.
Included: Towels, bed linen, heating, hot water and electricity.
A pack of essential groceries awaits your arrival.
Gourmet breakfasts: Guide price: £8 per person. (Dinners on application).
Cleaning: Jessica can provide an optional cleaning service and can make the beds during longer stays.

Deposits: A non-refundable deposit of £150 is requested at the time of booking, with the rest being due 30 days before your stay. A breakages/cleaning deposit of £200 will be refunded in full as soon as the flat has been inspected.
Rental times: Bookings usually run Saturday to Saturday but other days and part week breaks can usually be accommodated.
Extras such as catering and maid services should preferably be negotiated at the time of booking.
Please note that Beltane is non-smoking, and not suitable for children under 12 or pets.
