Only 7 miles from Edinburgh, Newmills House is a charming Georgian family house built in about 1780, where Lois-May and David Donaldson offer bed and breakfast; a warm welcome in an informal atmosphere. The house is full of interesting paintings, and colourful painted decoration. Also many of the period features remain including a large, comfortable drawing room and an acre of secluded gardens with an historic yew hedge.
There is an excellent bus service and the bus stop is 2 minutes walk away. Many guests at Newmills House find the bus is the most convenient form of transport into Edinburgh, thus avoiding any parking problems - and the need to remember the route home!

Please tell Lois-May and David you found Newmills House through About Scotland! You are also welcome to use the tennis court. The garden is sheltered by high walls with fruit trees and informal borders. Newmills is a good base for touring in the Central belt of Scotland, for visiting many of the Historic buildings in the area and for gaining quick access to the centres of Scotland's two largest and most beautiful cities. |

If you are visiting Ayrshire, perhaps to play at Turnberry, Troon or Prestwick Golf courses why not stay with Lois-May's brother Mungo and his wife Julia at Heughmill - in the country about 6 miles from Prestick airport and 3 miles south of Kilmarnock.
